NEWS FROM THE ARCHIVES - Jan 2005 to Sept 2007
● September 2007 Following customer feedback from Turkey the
Ash Probe software has been further updated to include a simpler Pile Mode option. Additionally, a specific Calibration Mode has also been included which makes calibration even easier.
● In August 2007 we introduced a new Lab Ash beaker.
The new design is made of Medium Density Polyethylene (MDPE) which is a very tough material. The beakers are now thermo moulded and of unitary construction.
These beakers are significantly tougher than the previous composite design. Good news for our high volume Lab Ash customers.
● In May 2007 Paul Taylor made a first visit to Indonesia to promote our products there.
He was ably assisted by Aril and Tiki of
ITS Science & Medical, our Distributor in Indonesia.
Whilst in Indonesia Paul Taylor met Mr Lawrence Tan CEO of the ITS group and we arranged for ITS to represent Bretby Gammatech in Thailand.
The details now appear on our
Agents page.

● Over the past few months we have continued to improve our products. The Lab Ash has now been upgraded to use the newer faster processor already used in the upgraded Ash Probe. The first customer for the new model
Lab Ash was in Canada. The system was successfully commissioned at a mine in Alberta in
March 2007.
● Prompted by an idea suggested by STS Instruments, our Distributor in Vietnam, we have improved the method for providing a uniform sample geometry in the Lab Ash, thus increasing its precision.
This is achieved by using a special Bretby Gammatech designed "Joggle Table" which is used during the beaker filling process to allow a uniform compaction of the sample.

● The success of the Ash Probe commissioned back in December 2005 at Chernigovets mine, coupled with the expert energy of Alexi & Andrey of
Siberian Analytical Services, our new Distributor in Russia, has prompted many new sales in Siberia. The Ash Probe's growing reputation for working well at low temperatures has recently prompted the large mine in Spitsbergen to purchase an Ash Probe. It was successfully commissioned there in March 2007.
Our Russian agents Siberia Analytical Services have included a section in Russian on their website. The link is
www.sasltd.ru.

● 0n 6 March 2007 we were visited by Alexi Veselov of
Siberian Analytical Services, our new Distributor in Russia.
Alan Cooke & Paul Taylor showed Alexi and his colleague Sergei the
Ash Eye at Daw Mill.
This Ash Eye was installed back in 1997 and is still going strong.
● In February 2007 In February 2007 the first Ash Probe was successfully commissioned in Turkey. The unit is being used to monitor the coal being dispatched to a local power station to ensure that it is within ash specification. Recent reports from our Distributor in Turkey,
MTM, show it is working very well.
● Also in February 2007 Paul Taylor made a visit to Serbia & Bosnia Herzegovina to promote our products there with the help of our Distributor in Belgrade, Europrocess.
There is a growing market for the rich coal deposits in this region and Bretby Gammatech is at the forefront of supplying coal quality measuring equipment there.

● In November 2006 we were visited by our Colombian Distributor, Martha & Carlos Parra of CI MILPA SA.
Alan Cooke, our Operations Director, took them to Daw Mill Colliery where they were shown the
Ash Eye in operation.
In the evening of 9 November all the Bretby Gammatech directors and their wives joined Martha and Carlos for a fine dinner at the La Zouch Restaurant in Ashby. |
● In October 2006 the upgrading of the Ash Probe to use a new and faster processor was completed and the first unit was sold to a customer in Vietnam. Following customer feedback from Colombia this upgrade also incorporated a "Truck Mode" facility which enables the user to assess the ash content of a truck of coal very quickly and with the minimum of button pressing. This is particularly useful for truck deliveries to washing plants, blending plants and power stations. Several of these new units have already been supplied to customers in Colombia the latest being in May 2007.
● The success of the
Ash Probe in Colombia over the past 18 months has prompted us, in conjunction with our Distributor
C. I. MILPA S.A., to set up a first line maintenance and repair facility there.
● In June 2006 Operations Director, Alan Cooke, travelled to Colombia to train MILPA engineers to provide this service. He also visited a number of customer sites and received an enthusiastic response to our products. Just a week later were rewarded with further orders.
● Since MD, Paul Taylor's successful sales visit to Iran in February 2006 our
agent IMISCO has secured a number of Ash Probe orders.
In July 2006 Paul
made a follow up visit to Iran to commission some of these Ash Probes and to
train IMISCO engineers in the commissioning process. Further potential
customers were visited and the reception received was enthusiastic.
● After extensive market research our new Distributor in Iran, IMISCO found very significant interest in our products.
In February 2006, Managing Director, Paul Taylor visited Iran to give presentations and to provide on-site demonstrations of the
Ash Probe to coal mines in the Shahrood area. After his visit Ali Pahlavani of IMISCO carried out further Ash Probe demonstrations at a number of other coal mines in different areas of Iran.
In April 2006 Ali informed us that he had sold the demonstration unit and he placed orders for several more Ash Probes. Further orders were received in
June 2006.
A follow up visit by Paul Taylor is planned for July 2006.
● In March 2006 Paul Taylor visited Ankara to set up
MTM to be our agent in Turkey. Due to significant customer demand, a return visit was made in May in order to carry out on-site demonstrations of the
Ash Probe and visit potential customers of the
Ash Eye. Orders have been promised.
● Following the successful application of the Ash Probe in Siberia we have now set up
Siberian Analytical Service as our agent in Krasnoyarsk. Already Alexey Veselov, General Manager of SAS has been able to supply first line support to local customers and he recently commissioned an Ash Probe at a major mine in the region.
● Feedback over the past six months from our Heat Eye customer in Macedonia has been very encouraging. They are getting excellent performance from the instrument in terms of Ash, Moisture and CV. Recent performance checks against stopped belt samples have shown better than 1% agreement. In fact, the customer now gives more credence to the Heat Eye results than the traditional hand samples.
● The first Heat Eye has just been successfully commissioned at a power plant in Macedonia.
Latest feedback obtained in December 2005 indicates that it is working well.
● Our original on-line ash monitor, the NGCQM, has recently been substantially updated and in
July 2005 was rebranded as the Ash Eye. In common with all our monitors, it does not contain radio active sources.
● The Heat Eye, an on-line monitor providing instantaneous ash, moisture and nett CV was launched in June 2005. Interest is high and orders have already been received. The first unit was installed in November 2005.
● During 2005 we further expanded our network of overseas
Agents, adding ones in Greece, Colombia, Indonesia, Iran and Southern China. We also appointed new Agents in Australia and Serbia & Montenegro.
● After six years of intensive marketing in India both by ourselves and by our agent,
Khemka Instruments Private Ltd., of Kolkata we successfully sold an
Ash Probe and a Lab Ash.
● In April 2005 these two instruments were commissioned and are now an integral part of the quality control at the mine near Ranchi. Significant interest is being shown by many coal companies both public and private and we are confident more orders will follow.

IMMSA, we successfully exhibited the Ash Probe at the SMOPYC exhibition in Zaragosa. At the same time the first Ash Probe in Spain was successfully commissioned.
